TCL Chinese Theatre

Originally commissioned in 1927 by Sid Grauman, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks, this flamboyant pagoda-style cinema is shielded by Ming Dynasty Heaven Dogs and capped with a 90-foot bronze roof. The architecture serves as a backdrop to both classic Hollywood nostalgia and modern exhibition, housing both the world's largest IMAX auditorium and MX4D motion seating. The exterior remains defined by the Forecourt of the Stars, a collection of concrete slabs preserving the handprints and signatures of performers from the 1920s to the present. As an active venue for major film premieres, the site balances its status as a historical landmark with a fully operational, state-of-the-art cinema experience.
