How to Route Halloween Horror Nights in One Evening

A first-timer's sequence across haunted mazes, scare zones, and the backlot Terror Tram without losing hours in gridlock.

Plan an evening on the backlot.

🎃 The Night Event

🗺️ The One-Night Order

Open the official Universal Studios Hollywood app as soon as you clear the gate and check live waits. Head to the Terror Tram first, while the backlot line is still short, then spend the next stretch on the two or three houses you care about most. Plan around a set seating of The Purge: Dangerous Waters rather than drifting past it, and use the rest of the night for the remaining houses and the scare zones between them.

👻 Houses, Tram and Scare Zones

This year brings eight haunted houses, from Stranger Things 5 and Hellraiser to Killer Klowns from Outer Space, plus a Terror Tram ride through backlot sets taken over by Art the Clown. The Purge stunt show adds fire and water on a fixed schedule, and roaming scare actors fill the streets between houses. Crowds and waits shift by night, so picking a few priorities beats chasing every house, and a single evening may not cover the full lineup.

🎟️ Gates, Tickets and Arrival

Gates open at 6:30 PM and the event starts at 7:00 PM on select nights through November 1. General admission uses date-based pricing, so check the current price for your night before buying rather than relying on a starting figure. The 2 PM Day/Night ticket adds daytime park entry and is a different product from Early Access, while Universal Express shortens lines. Sales are final, the Metro B Line stops at Universal City, and guests may not wear masks.
