Description

Giovanni John Sasso founded the pizzeria at the turn of the 20th century on Sullivan Street, later dismantling and moving his original oven to Bleecker Street. Today, the historic spot remains cash-only-focused. Sidewalk queues are a standard fixture, though the wait is often brief before diners are ushered to booths. Aside from charred pizzas like the Piccante, the kitchen's signature non-pie draw is its garlic bread served with mozzarella and chunky marinara.
