Chinatown Parks, Cantonese Food and History
Columbus Park in Chinatown
Columbus Park opens daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Residents gather for morning tai chi, mahjong and traditional music. Check a particular tai chi session's timing before planning around it. Shaded corners among trees and rocks offer a place to pause. Public restrooms are in the central brick pavilion. Basketball courts occupy the north end. Plan your departure around the opening hours of the next stop on your route.

Uncle Lou on Mulberry Street
Tuesday is Uncle Lou's weekly closure. On Monday and Wednesday through Sunday, hours run from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Book ahead, particularly for a larger party. Peak hours often bring lines extending out the door. Allow time for a wait before heading to the next stop. The compact dining room has closely packed tables. For a shared meal, choose dim sum or honey walnut jumbo shrimp.

African Burial Ground on Broadway
African Burial Ground National Monument marks North America's oldest and largest excavated burial site for free and enslaved Africans. An estimated 15,000 Africans were buried here between the 1690s and 1794. Visitors can study carved symbols and a circular floor design in the stone courtyard. This National Historic Landmark welcomes visitors Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Plan this memorial stop within that daytime window.
