West Village Steakhouse Inside the Former Chumley's Speakeasy
Dining on ranch-sourced aged beef and scratch cocktails at a West Village steakhouse set in a 1920s Prohibition haunt.
🥩 Aged Beef and Rare Wines
The Eighty Six is a West Village steakhouse set inside the former Chumley's, the Prohibition-era haunt where Hemingway and Fitzgerald gathered and the term 86 was born. Chef Michael Vignola runs the kitchen, and the beef is globally sourced, aged, and bought directly from small independent ranches.
The rest of the menu has range. Pastrami hamachi crudo, lobster spaghetti, and a fresh Waldorf salad sit beside the steaks, scratch cocktails come from the bar, and a list of rare and collectible wines rounds out a classic, upscale dinner. Art Deco details and warm, layered textures keep the intimate speakeasy room from feeling like a museum piece.
Dinner runs every night from 4 PM to 10 PM at 86 Bedford Street. Book it for a date night, open with a cocktail, and let the aged beef carry the evening while the old Chumley's walls do the storytelling.
