🍢 A Yakitori Bar on Second Avenue

On Second Avenue in the Upper East Side, Tabata Japanese Restaurant & Yakitori Bar keeps the grill going from late morning into the evening. The menu reads like an izakaya sampler, with yakitori skewers, soba, hotpot, edamame, and fish all landing on the same table.

Start with a plate of skewers, glazed and charred at the edges, then choose between noodles and a pot. The Tan Tan ramen gives noodle lovers a clear order, while soba and hotpot keep the pace slow enough for a long catch-up over drinks. Crisp fried plates and sizzling platters round out a table built for sharing.

The restaurant now works out of a new space, and its staff is noted for friendly service. Doors open at 11:30 AM and close at 10:00 PM, seven days a week. Prices sit in the mid-priced range, an easy call for a weeknight table of friends.
