Wende Museum Reopens With Two Cold War Exhibitions
A free Culver City archive of East Bloc life reopens November 7 with Argentine press photos and a space show co-curated with a NASA historian.
🚀 From Buenos Aires to Sputnik
The galleries stay shut for changeover until Saturday, November 7, and admission is free once they open. Between Two Empires mines the La Razón and Clarín newspaper archives for four decades of Argentine press photography, with images of rallies, coups and street life as the country swung between competing powers. Competing Cosmologies, co-curated with NASA historian Lois Rosson, sets a full-scale Sputnik-1 model and an original meteorite among Cold War-era and contemporary paintings from the East, the West and the Global South. Open Friday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday are school groups only. Free tours normally at 11:30 a.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. weekends.
