Description

Tucked among Culver City’s parks and residences, the museum occupies a sleek facility shaped by an imposing brutalist aesthetic. Its galleries pair well-curated archives with contemporary exhibitions, spotlighting European and Soviet Union artifacts and historical material that many visitors encounter here for the first time. The galleries are closed to the public for exhibition changeover until Saturday, November 7, 2026, when they reopen with admission free for all exhibitions and public programs. Between Two Empires: Argentina in the Cold War Pendulum (1945–1989) runs September 5, 2026 to January 31, 2027 and draws on photographs from the archives of the newspapers La Razón and Clarín to trace four decades of Argentine political life, from Perón to the return of democracy. Competing Cosmologies: Interpreting the Sky runs November 7, 2026 to October 17, 2027, co-curated by the Wende’s curatorial department and NASA historian Lois Rosson, and sets a full-scale model of Sputnik-1 and an original meteorite among Cold War-era and contemporary artwork by artists from the East, the West and the Global South. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday and Tuesday closed; Wednesday and Thursday open for school tours only. Free public tours are normally held at 11:30 a.m. on Fridays and at 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
