The park carries the name of Andrew Haswell Green, the civic planner behind Central Park and the consolidation of the five boroughs. It runs as a curved esplanade along the East River at 60th Street, slipping beneath the steel span of the Queensboro Bridge. A bright red canopy from an old Con Edison structure shades a stretch of benches, while a shared path carries cyclists and joggers past young trees and lawns. Roosevelt Island and its aerial tram sit across the water, with the Queens shoreline beyond. Crowds stay thin here, even on clear weekend afternoons.
