Punched Paper Tickets on a Griffith Park Miniature Railway
Ride a volunteer-built railway with tickets marked by a train emblem punch.
🚂 Railroad History in Motion
Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum puts railroad history into motion in Griffith Park. Founded in 1956 by train enthusiasts, this outdoor museum demonstrates live steam, gas mechanical and electric railroad technology with equipment that actually runs. The miniature route carries riders past tiny towns and tunnels, turning a ride around the grounds into a close look at a railway built on a smaller scale.
Members built almost everything across the facility, and the organization runs entirely on volunteer work and donor support. Tickets get a train emblem punch, a small piece of railroad ritual to carry into the outing.
Public rides run Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM, weather permitting, at 5202 Zoo Drive. The suggested donation is four dollars per person for a trip on the seven and a half inch gauge equipment. Keep dogs off the trains, as the museum requires.
