Cocktail Bar Near Me in Shibuya: Inside The SG Club's Guzzle and Sip
The SG Club at 1-7-8 Jinnan has mixed Japanese-twist cocktails since 2018, keeps its ground-floor Guzzle bar walk-in with no service charge, and lists the Tokyo Banana Sour at ¥1,870.
The SG Club has served Japanese-twist cocktails at 1-7-8 Jinnan in Shibuya since 16 June 2018, and its ground-floor bar, Guzzle, still takes no reservations and adds no service charge. Guzzle opens at 6pm, and a menu card posted to Tabelog in September 2026 lists the Tokyo Banana Sour at ¥1,870. For anyone typing cocktail bar near me between Shibuya Station and Yoyogi Park, this two-level public bar from Shingo Gokan is about eight minutes on foot from the station, and on 7 October 2026 it placed No. 88 in The 50 Best Bars.
From Koen-dori to a Quiet Jinnan Side Street
Tabelog puts the bar 611 metres, or roughly eight minutes on foot, from Shibuya Station. A reviewer from November 2025 gives the clearest route: walk straight up Koen-dori and turn at the corner just past Shibuya City Hall. Another reviewer, writing in 2024, placed it a stone's throw from Yoyogi Park and noted that the exterior is so quiet you might walk straight past it.
Bishoku Quest describes a building set slightly back from a Jinnan side street that looks like a carefully renovated older house rather than a bar. The sign is deliberately low-key. There is a takeaway counter and a few outdoor seats, and inside a staircase leads both down to the basement and up to the higher floors. A shoe-shine booth sits near the basement stairs, a detail Time Out also mentions.

Samurai in 1860s America and the Bartender Behind It
The concept comes from history. The group's own page explains that the bar is inspired by the 1860 Japanese embassy to the United States, the samurai who sailed to America during the first golden age of cocktails. The house story imagines those samurai coming home and opening a bar in Tokyo. Guzzle borrows a vintage American look, and Sip downstairs suggests an old New York gang club with samurai touches.
Shingo Gokan started bartending in 2001 and moved to New York alone in 2006. Bishoku Quest says he became head bartender at Angel's Share, and in 2012 he won the Bacardi Legacy global final. SG Group opened Speak Low in Shanghai in 2014 before this flagship arrived. The SG Club was No. 10 in The World's 50 Best Bars 2020, and on 7 October 2026 Gokan received the Roku Industry Icon Award in Milan.
Guzzle: the Walk-In Bar at Street Level
Guzzle is the upbeat floor, and the official page says it serves approachable cocktails, mocktails and takeaway drinks. A card posted to Tabelog in October 2026 prices the Lemons Sour, made with Bombay gin, lemongrass, lemon verbena and lemon balm, at ¥1,650. The Dashi Michelada with The SG Shochu Kome, dashi, tomato and wasabi is ¥1,650, and the No. 1 Cup mixes Roku gin, one-cup sake and Earl Grey.
The longer list in a photo posted in September 2026 prices the Tokyo Banana Sour at ¥1,870, built on The SG Shochu Mugi, Japanese whisky, grilled banana, brown butter, mirin, cacao vinegar and miso. A Tabelog reviewer ordered it that month and called the banana flavour strong. The Dirty Bamboo, with fino, semi-dried tomato, kombu and katsuobushi, is also ¥1,870. Skip the frozen Sexy Colada at ¥2,420, since it is the priciest drink on the card and the least Japanese.
Sip: the Basement Menu and Its Service Charge
Sip is the slower basement room, with wood, leather and low light. The official description compares its drinks to the flavour pairings of fine dining. A Sip menu card posted in September 2026 lists the Cold Soba Negroni at ¥2,800, made with The SG Shochu Mugi, soba, ice wine, Campari and dashi. Charlie Brown Loves Wagyu costs ¥3,300 and mixes Angel's Envy bourbon, Kobe beef, peanut butter and maple syrup.
Samurai's Pleasure at ¥3,050 combines Bacardi, pear, pistachio, Champagne and ice cream, and an August 2026 reviewer said it finished like vanilla ice cream. The Dirty Mango, a Haku dirty martini with mango, is ¥2,700. The bar's Tabelog listing adds a 10% service charge in Sip but no table charge, while Guzzle has neither. A June 2026 visitor praised the menus for listing every price and the spirits used.
How to Get In, and Where to Go If It Is Full
Only Sip takes bookings, through TableCheck, with start times of 6pm or 7:30pm. Phone bookings are not accepted on the day, counter seats are held for two people at most, groups of six or more cannot book, and stays may be limited to 90 minutes when busy. If you are 15 minutes late without calling, the table can be cancelled. Guzzle is first come, first served, and minors are not admitted.
Queues are real. A September 2026 reviewer waited about 30 minutes at 8pm, and a February 2026 visitor saw a line outside by 11pm on a Friday. In May 2026 one guest asked to move downstairs, drank two rounds in Guzzle, and was called down early. If the wait passes 30 minutes, walk to SG Low, the group's izakaya-style bar on the second floor of the NC Building at 1-9-4 Jinnan.
Who Fills the Bar, and the Floors Reserved for Others
Overseas visitors dominate. An August 2026 reviewer estimated that 80% of guests were from abroad and noted many Europeans, and Bishoku Quest counted about 90% on its visit. Another August 2026 reviewer brings friends from overseas and says they always love it. Fans of the group's sister bars come too. One reviewer had visited Esujirou and Bellwood several times before finally making it to the flagship.
Not every floor is open to walk-ins. Savor on the second floor is a members-only cigar and cocktail lounge, open to members from Wednesday to Saturday. Sangai on the third floor opened on 6 August 2025 with eight seats of yakusugi cedar and oak, and runs reservation-only omakase cocktail sessions from Friday to Sunday. Its course was ¥16,500 plus service in November 2025. For most visitors, Guzzle and Sip are the bar.
Practical Notes
The address is 1-7-8 Jinnan, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0041, and the phone number is +81 50-3138-2618, though the listing asks guests to book online. The bar's Tabelog page lists Guzzle and Sip from 6pm to 1am and closes on the fourth Monday of each month. Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Amex and Diners are accepted, but e-money and QR payments are not. The bar is non-smoking, with ashtrays outside.
Tabelog counts 50 seats, split evenly between Guzzle and Sip, plus an English menu and English-speaking staff. For a short walk, Shibuya PARCO sits at 15-1 Udagawacho on the route back toward the station, and Yoyogi Park is, as one reviewer put it, a stone's throw away. If Jinnan is full, the bar's booking page points guests to The SG Tavern on the ground floor of the Marunouchi Eiraku Building, 1-4-1 Marunouchi.
