Craft Beer Taproom Near Me in Nihonbashi: CRAFTROCK Brewpub and Live
CRAFTROCK Brewpub and Live brews its own beer on site at COREDO Muromachi Terrace in Nihonbashi, pours about 20 taps across 140 seats and a terrace, serves BBQ back ribs and loaded fries, and puts on live music mostly at weekends.
CRAFTROCK Brewpub and Live occupies the ground floor of COREDO Muromachi Terrace at 3-2-1 Nihonbashi Muromachi, Chuo-ku, connected underground to Mitsukoshimae station on the Ginza and Hanzomon lines. It is a working brewery with a bar, a kitchen and a stage under one roof, and with 140 seats it is one of the larger brewpubs in central Tokyo. Anyone searching craft beer taproom near me around Nihonbashi or Kanda will find beer brewed a few metres from the taps, plus guest beers from Japan and abroad on roughly 20 lines.

A Brewery Run by Musicians
CRAFTROCK Brewing describes itself as a brewery started by music lovers around an owner who still plays in a band. Its stated aim is to connect craft beer culture and music culture and to support working musicians, which is why the company runs live events and festivals alongside the pub. Staff who play in bands get help with rehearsal studio fees at a partner studio chain, according to the company's own recruiting page.
The pub belongs to Steady Works, the Tokyo company behind the Craft Beer Market chain. Craft Beer Market's own site says the growth of CRAFTROCK Brewing let the group brew and deliver its beer in house, and that the savings helped it bring a glass at its Craft Beer Market bars back to the original 480 yen in September 2026. CRAFTROCK now brews in two places in Tokyo: here in Nihonbashi and at a newer brewery and taproom at the foot of Mount Takao.
The People Behind the Tanks
Head brewer Ryo Suzuki started his beer career at DevilCraft in 2011 and became head brewer when CRAFTROCK opened in 2019. He describes the house style as dry and clean, lower in alcohol but full of aroma, the kind of beer you order a second pint of. Kaoru Tachibana, who studied brewing at university and worked at breweries in Japan and the United States, handles all brewing at the Nihonbashi plant.
The team also includes Wesley Lashley, who came to Tokyo after working at Fort Point Beer Company and Cellarmaker Brewing in the United States and at Fukuoka Craft Brewing in Japan. Many beers are named after songs or made with bands. Joy Hopposites, for example, is a collaboration double IPA with Adam, guitarist and singer of the bands Joy Opposites and FACT.
What to Order at the Bar
Start with Alternative IPA, which the brewery calls its most popular beer and its flagship: an American IPA at 6.0 percent with 95 IBU, tropical on the nose and grapefruit bitter on the finish. If that sounds too heavy for a first round, Drink All Day is a 5.0 percent Kölsch at 20 IBU, and Ocean Avenue is a 4.5 percent session IPA built on New Zealand hops.
Joy Hopposites is the one to save for last. At 8.0 percent and 95 IBU it is the strongest of the core beers, and the brewery says it was designed to be dank, fruity and dry. The rest of the board changes as batches run out, with guest beers from Japan and abroad rotating in alongside the house range. The company's own cans are 250 ml, which Craft Beer Market says matches the half-size pour served in its bars.
Back Ribs, Loaded Fries and a Stage
The kitchen pairs bistro cooking with American West Coast bar food. The two signature dishes are barbecue back ribs and loaded fries, a pile of French fries covered in toppings and sauce. Both are built to share, and both suit the hoppier beers far better than a salad would. Weekday lunch runs from 11 am, so ribs and a fresh IPA work as a midday meal as well as a night out.
The room has three parts: a bar-style seated area, a standing area for drinkers who order at the counter, and a terrace with picnic tables. Live music happens mostly at weekends, and past in-store shows have been free to watch with a one-drink order. On those nights the standing area fills first and entry can be limited once it is full, so book a table if you want a seat.
Lunch, Dinner and Weekend Hours
On weekdays CRAFTROCK opens for lunch from 11 am to 3 pm, with last orders at 2 pm, then again for dinner from 5 pm to 11 pm, with food last orders at 10 pm and drinks at 10.30 pm. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays it stays open from 11 am straight through to 11 pm. The pub lists no regular closing day.
Reservations are taken by phone on 03-5542-1069. The weekday lull between 3 pm and 5 pm is the one stretch when the doors are shut, so plan around it if you arrive mid-afternoon. A weekend afternoon is the easiest time to get a terrace table without booking.
Around Muromachi After a Pint
COREDO Muromachi Terrace sits where Nihonbashi's old merchant district meets the office towers. The pub is connected directly to Mitsukoshimae station, two minutes on foot from Shin-Nihonbashi on the JR Sobu Line and four minutes from the south exit of JR Kanda. That makes it an easy first or last stop on a walk between Nihonbashi and Kanda.
From the pub, Kanda Station is the obvious direction for a second round, and the brick arches of mAAch ecute by the Kanda River are a short walk further north for anyone heading toward Akihabara. If you would rather try the same company's beer somewhere greener, its Takao taproom is about an hour from central Tokyo on the Keio line.
