Woodland Trails Around a 19th Century Mansion

Roam a rugged Staten Island green space that pairs wooded paths with a historic house and golf course.

Take the woods at La Tourette.

🌲 Paths Through The Woods

La Tourette Park gives a long afternoon on Staten Island some welcome room to breathe. The grounds move from paved stone paths to foot and bike trails through the woods, with a dedicated nature center adding a quiet forest stop. A 19th century mansion and a golf course broaden the outing beyond a simple walk.

Biking is allowed, and the rugged, unmanicured setting makes the route feel removed from the city. Use the paved route for an easy stroll, or follow the trails deeper into the trees when there is more time to spare. The nature center works as a pause between the two.

The grounds stay open daily from 6 AM to 1 AM, which suits an early start or a late return. Find the park at Rockland Avenue and Forest Hill Road, begin on the paved paths, then choose the wooded trails once the legs are warm.
