Twin Reflecting Pools and the Survivor Tree

Stroll the World Trade Center footprints, where cascading water and bronze names create a powerful place to pause.

Pause beside the memorial pools.

🌊 Water and Memory

At the World Trade Center site, two massive pools fill the footprints of the Twin Towers, with water cascading endlessly into the void below. Start at the edge and let the sound set the pace, then trace the rim where the names of the victims are engraved in bronze.

The outdoor plaza keeps the focus on those physical details. The Survivor Tree and the Memorial Glade add two distinct points to the visit, and the open plaza leaves room to pause without leaving the site. The design encourages a slower walk and a longer look, with the steady fall of water holding the eye.

At 180 Greenwich Street in Lower Manhattan, the memorial feels both monumental and close at hand. The plaza is open from 8 AM to 8 PM every day. Leave time for the water, the names, and the quiet that gathers between them.
