Southeast DC Park Trails Meet Civil War Earthworks

Walk between community programs and green space at a neighborhood hub for outdoor recreation.

Plan a walk at Fort DuPont.

🌿 A Neighborhood Learning Stop

Make a neighborhood walk the plan, with Fort DuPont Park Activity Center as your starting point in Southeast DC. The National Park Service manages this educational hub within the park, bringing community programs into the same setting as local outdoor recreation. Civil War earthworks give the outing a historic thread.

The center supports interpretive programs and environmental education amid trails and extensive green spaces. Hiking and biking, bird watching and community gardens all belong to the broader park experience. Choose the part that suits your afternoon, from time outdoors to learning more about the place around you.

An amphitheater and summer concerts add a performance element to the park. The grounds are open to the public. Find the center on Fort Dupont Drive SE. It opens Sunday through Friday from 6 AM to 10 PM and Saturday from midnight to 10 PM.
