Socrates at Sunset, Then Greek Seafood in Astoria
A free hour beside outdoor art gives way to a sit-down Greek meal on Broadway. This Queens evening works on foot, with the waterfront first and dinner after the park gates close.
🧭 From Riverbank to Broadway
🌅 The Park Shuts at Sunset
Socrates Sculpture Park closes at sunset, 365 days a year, and the grounds do not stay open into dusk. On October 27 the sun sets at 5:58 PM, and a 5:00 PM arrival leaves about an hour. Admission is free. On view this autumn: Chakaia Booker's tire-and-steel Serendipity and Gridlock, Sanford Biggers' cloud-form Unsui (Mirror) along the shoreline, and Lizania Cruz's Ecologies of Care kiosk through November 15. John Morse's Flying Flag Flying comes down November 1. The seawall project has part of the north lawn and coastline fenced off, with the rest of the park open.

🐙 Octopus After the River
Bahari Estiatorio at 31-14 Broadway swaps the open riverbank for a dining room and an open kitchen. Grilled octopus runs 28.75 dollars and fried squid 18 dollars among the hot starters. Whole fish is sold at market price, and the price is worth confirming with your server before ordering. Hours run noon to midnight daily. Two people can share one seafood starter and a salad, then decide on a whole fish.

🚶 The Walk Between Two Moods
Reach Socrates by N/W to Broadway and eight blocks west on foot, or by Q103/Q104 to Broadway & Vernon; NYC Ferry drops at Astoria Landing about five minutes north. From the main gate at Vernon Boulevard, follow Broadway east to Bahari, roughly 1.35 kilometres and 25 minutes with crossings. Aim for dinner around 6:30 PM on October 27. From November 1, sunset moves to 4:52 PM and the gate closes with it; arrive by 4:00 PM that week and by 3:45 PM by mid-month instead of 5 PM. Finish near the Broadway station. The park closes at 1:00 PM on federal holidays.
