🎨 Print a tote with master printers

The drop-in printmaking workshop is the centerpiece of the day, welcoming both adults and families. From 1:30 to 5 pm, master printers from the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop take over the third floor theater to guide visitors through screen printing and pochoir. Roy Lichtenstein's pop art looked cool, crisp and machine-made, but each image was meticulously handmade. The museum does not promise a tote bag for every visitor, so arrive right at the 1:30 pm start if you want to pull a print yourself. The studio session ties in with Like New, the Lichtenstein exhibition on the fifth floor, on view through May 10, 2027.

🎷 Jazz, sketching, and gallery talks

Free admission lets you wander the museum on your own terms. Families can check out the 11 am Jazz at Lincoln Center concert in the theater—note that the jazz performance requires its own free registration on the Whitney event page, separate from museum admission. Sky Sketches runs 11 am to 2 pm on the fifth floor, offering a relaxed drawing space inspired by a Lichtenstein sunset, while the CMOM play lounge on the third floor suits toddlers under five from 11 am to 3 pm. For gallery exploration without extra sign-ups, drop into A Closer Look at 12 pm on the seventh floor, or 15-minute Minnie Evans spotlight tours at 2 and 2:30 pm on the eighth floor (both capped at 20 people, first come, first served).

🌇 Sunset by 4:45 pm at Little Island

Whitney admission is free all day from 10:30 am to 6 pm, but you still need a free timed museum ticket booked in advance. To catch the day's golden hour over the Hudson River, wrap up your printmaking by 4:15 pm and walk seven minutes to Little Island at Pier 55. Sunset lands at 4:45 pm on November 8, giving you ample time to settle on the waterfront overlooks before dusk settles. Little Island stays open until 9 pm in November and admission is always free. If you miss this Sunday, visitors 25 and under enter the Whitney free every day, and Friday nights from 5 to 10 pm are always free for everyone.
