Run entirely by volunteer officers and staff, the museum originated as the City Historical Committee in 1970 before incorporating as an independent non-profit in 1977. Its exhibits trace the city's coastal development and community heritage, dedicated to researching, collecting, and documenting local civic milestones alongside the residents who shaped the town.
