🍰 Beyond The Main Plate

Budapest Cafe brings home style Hungarian cooking to 1631 Second Avenue on the Upper East Side. The cozy European style setting draws solo diners and people stopping by for pastries, with a menu that makes room for a full meal as well as something sweet. Start with schnitzel or goulash, two Hungarian classics served here.

Palacsinta crepes come with savory fillings or lemon and sugar. The bakery case holds Dobos torte and rugelach, giving pastry buyers a separate reason to step inside. Regular coffee is available alongside the baked goods. The licensed bar also serves a selection of beers with meals.

Monday through Thursday, the lunch menu includes soup or salad, a main and a slice of pie for 25 dollars. For a later meal or a pastry stop, the cafe is open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM.
