Gluten-Free Cream Puffs Go Apple and Pumpkin in the East Village
A family-owned East Village bakery leans into fall with burnt-marshmallow pumpkin puffs and a gluten-free pastel de nata.
🎃 Fall at the Puff Counter
Butterdose, a family-owned bakery on East 13th Street, is known for its gluten-free cream puffs, and the fall menu adds two seasonal flavors. The pumpkin puff carries a light pumpkin whip with a touch of burnt marshmallow, while the apple version runs darker, with caramel folded in. The case also holds a gluten-free pastel de nata with a flaky shell, filled with sweet custard. Pumpkin tres leches, miso caramel chocolate cake, an apple cider donut and a veggie quiche round out the counter. The doors open at 8:00 AM daily and close at 7:00 PM on Sunday and Monday, 9:00 PM the rest of the week.
