🎻 Inside Gehry's hall

Walt Disney Concert Hall is Frank Gehry's stainless-steel landmark on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, and it opened in 2003 as the home stage of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The curving metal exterior gives way to an interior lined in Douglas fir, with the audience wrapped around the orchestra on all sides.

A pipe organ of angled wooden ranks rises behind the stage, and the vineyard seating puts some listeners directly behind the players, close enough to watch a conductor's cues. The hall anchors the Music Center campus, steps from The Broad and MOCA on Bunker Hill.

Programs run from LA Phil subscription nights to touring artists and film scores, and self-guided audio tours cover the architecture on non-performance afternoons.
