Explore London's first children's charity and art gallery, featuring historical collections by Hogarth and Handel across four floors.
Description

Established in 1739 by Thomas Coram to care for babies at risk of abandonment, the museum unfolds across four floors with a calm atmosphere and information printed all over the walls. Visitors encounter an informative if not sad display of objects, art pieces, furniture, and clothing associated with the hospital and its connected charities. The collection includes works by William Hogarth alongside an excellent exhibition on the composer George Frideric Handel, who served as a governor and benefactor. The spaces also host occasional lectures and music workshops, offering a thought-provoking look at poverty and the history of children in Britain.
