🍣 A 1984 Japanese Classic

Hasaki keeps an East Village dinner focused on sashimi and Edomae style sushi, the two pillars of a menu built on authentic Japanese cuisine. The restaurant has served East 9th Street from 1984 onward, and a loyal following has kept it a classic New York sushi address for four decades.

Edomae style follows the old Tokyo tradition of curing and seasoning fish before it meets the rice, which gives each piece a clean, focused flavor. Open with a round of sashimi, then move to nigiri and let the fish set the pace of the meal. Prices sit at the upscale end, a fit for a special dinner or a slow evening for two.

Dinner runs from half past five PM to half past nine PM Tuesday through Saturday, with Sunday and Monday closed each week. Arrive early at 210 East 9th Street and plan the rest of the East Village evening around the meal.
