Carnival History and Live Sideshows Inside a Landmarked Building
Explore a nonprofit arts hub that hosts the annual Mermaid Parade in South Brooklyn.
🎭 Carnival on Stage
Coney Island USA brings carnival history into a landmarked building at 1208 Surf Avenue. This nonprofit arts organization works toward the cultural and economic revitalization of South Brooklyn, keeping the neighborhood heritage at the heart of the amusement district. You can explore that history across several spaces rather than treating the venue as a single exhibition.
The upstairs museum holds pieces from original rides that are over 100 years old. Live programming takes over the main stage through sideshow performances, mixing old time charm with fiery acts. The organization also hosts the annual Mermaid Parade, carrying its carnival tradition beyond the building.
The onsite Freak Bar serves drinks, and there is also a gift shop. Admission is 15 dollars for adults and 12 dollars for children under 12. The museum combo costs 18 dollars for adults and 15 dollars for children. Opening hours are Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 PM.
