🥢 Chicken Satay Below Street Level

Chicken satay starts the meal at Philippe by Philippe Chow, the downtown outpost of the uptown original. The kitchen serves Beijing-style Chinese food in generous portions, and Beijing Chicken stands beside the satay as a house favorite.

At 355 West 16th Street, dinner moves below street level into a subterranean hotel space with a buzzy scene. The spotless dining room has an open table layout and draws groups for dinner. Build the table around dumplings, spring rolls, filet mignon, and seasoned string beans, then pass plates around. Portions run large enough that a dish ordered for two can stretch across a bigger group.

Dinner starts at half past five in the evening Tuesday through Sunday. The kitchen closes at half past ten most nights and at half past eleven on Friday and Saturday, with Monday closed.
