Ancient World Exhibitions With a Scholarly New York Edge

Explore intimate ancient world exhibitions, from the Mediterranean to Central Asia, inside an NYU gallery.

Plan a quiet museum stop.

🗺️ A Small Room, Wide Reach

At 15 E 84th St, this NYU graduate research center opens a compact gallery on the ancient world. Rotating fall and spring exhibitions bring artifacts from the Mediterranean to Central Asia, with rare objects such as ancient maps appearing in the mix. The rooms reward a slower look than a blockbuster museum, and the setting keeps the visit easy to shape around the Upper East Side. Free guided tours add context when you want more than a self guided browse. Gallery talks, lectures, workshops, and a gift shop extend the visit beyond the cases. The university setting gives the rooms a thoughtful pace, with public programming sitting alongside graduate research. Public hours run Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed Monday and Tuesday, so check the calendar before heading over.
