Offering a smaller, less cavernous alternative to Manhattan's giant art institutions, the museum spans several floors of changing exhibits. The focus on the creative process makes the displays of contemporary craft feel accessible and relatable rather than academic. On the sixth floor, the open-studio format makes it possible to walk into active workspaces and chat with resident artists about their current projects. The experience is rounded out by an exceptional gift shop and a location right across from Central Park.
