Toronto works best when the day is built as a compact route: transit in, food placed before the final approach, and a post-match decision that does not fight the first crowd wave.
Streetcar first, then food
If the TTC is the spine, check the route before choosing the meal. A restaurant that looks close on a map may still create an awkward transfer when crowds rise. Keep the first food stop near the path you are already using.
If the group is walking from a downtown hotel, watch the weather. Lake breeze can feel great, but heat, rain, or delays can change the comfort math quickly.
Use the waterfront as a pressure valve
The waterfront can be the post-match reset if the weather is kind and the group does not need an immediate train. It gives fans space to breathe, check the score context, and decide whether to eat, ride, or wait.
Do not chase the densest exit
A tight match can make the first exit wave noisy and slow. If your group has no urgent connection, waiting a few minutes in a public open area may beat forcing everyone into the same narrow path.
