Rowing Studio Near Me in Jiyugaoka: Orangetheory Fitness at Haremao
Orangetheory Fitness Jiyugaoka opened on 1 November 2025 in the basement of Haremao Jiyugaoka, 2-17-10 Jiyugaoka. Here is how its rowing, treadmill and weights rotation works, who coaches, the ¥4,400 drop-in and ¥13,200 to ¥22,000 monthly plans, trial rules and a Kuhonbutsu greenway walk.
Orangetheory Fitness Jiyugaoka is Tokyo's newest Orangetheory, opened on Saturday 1 November 2025 at Haremao Jiyugaoka B1F, 2-17-10 Jiyugaoka, Meguro-ku, and every hour-long class moves you between rowing machines, treadmills and weights. A single visit costs ¥4,400 with tax, a full ¥1,100 less than the Azabu-Juban studio, and the first trial is free, which makes it an affordable rowing studio near me option along the Toyoko line.

Run by Orangetheory Japan Itself
Many Tokyo Orangetheory studios are franchises run by local companies. Jiyugaoka is listed in its launch release as operated by Orangetheory Japan Co., Ltd., the national company that says it plans to reach 100 studios in Japan over a decade. The 31 October 2025 announcement described the format as a 60-minute workout combining treadmill, rowing and weight training.
The opening release introduced Mari as coach and sales associate and Koichi as a coach. The studio page now lists Yuto as head coach with Mari, Mayu and Naco. To mark the launch the studio hosted a running clinic with multi-sport athlete Honoka Jinzai on 15 November 2025, limited to 20 people at ¥4,400, a sign of how much the treadmill side matters here too.
What the Rowing Block Feels Like
Expect the rower to appear in every class rather than as an optional extra. Members split into groups and rotate: one group on the treadmills, one on the rowing machines, one on the floor with dumbbells, straps and benches. Coaches call the switch, and the rowing segment can be a steady distance piece, a series of power strokes or short sprints.
Each member's heart-rate sensor puts their effort on the screens, which is the real point of the format. Rowing hard pushes the reading into the higher zones fast, so beginners learn to pace themselves on the erg. If you want to work on stroke technique for its own sake, ask the coach after class; there is no separate rowing-only session on the timetable.
Plans and Prices at Jiyugaoka
Jiyugaoka's monthly plans are the Basic at ¥13,200 for four classes, the Lite at ¥18,700 for eight, and the Regular at ¥22,000 with no limit, all including tax. On the studio's own price table, the Regular works out at about ¥1,570 a class if you come 14 times a month, against ¥3,300 a class on the Basic.
Single visits are ¥4,400 with no admin fee, and corporate groups of five or more joining together get a discount. A single rental of clothes, shoes or towels costs ¥550 per item, a contract locker ¥1,650 a month and unlimited hydrogen water another ¥1,650. Like every studio, members also pay a registration fee and buy or rent a heart-rate sensor.
Booking a Trial the Right Way
The trial form offers two options: a trial class or a studio tour and consultation, plus online consultation and brochure requests. Reservations are provisional until the studio replies by email or phone, and if you want to come the next day you are asked to phone 03-6421-2277 rather than rely on the form.
On trial day, arrive 35 to 40 minutes before class for check-in, changing, a body composition reading, a briefing on the equipment and an introduction to the coach. The empty-handed campaign currently lends trial guests clothes, shoes and towels for free, so there is no need to carry kit from work. Reception hours are noon to 9pm on weekdays and 10am to 7pm at weekends.
HYROX on the Side
Jiyugaoka also offers HYROX training, which adds functional stations to the running and rowing. Free HYROX trial places are full, so a HYROX taster costs ¥4,400, refunded if you sign up, and clothing rental is charged. Note your interest in the comments box of the trial form after checking the separate HYROX timetable the studio publishes.
Honest advice: book a standard class first. The HYROX sessions assume you already know how to pace on the rower and treadmill, and the standard class is free on a first visit while the HYROX trial is not. Once you know the equipment, HYROX is a good second step.
When Jiyugaoka Is Fully Booked
Only the Regular plan lets you train at other studios, and even then a studio may add a charge; Lite and Basic members pay extra. The nearest alternative is Shimokitazawa at No.R Shimokitazawa B1, 5-31-8 Daizawa, Setagaya-ku, which lists water rowers in its equipment. Azabu-Juban, at Festa Azabu B2, 1-7-5 Azabu-Juban, Minato-ku, is the central-Tokyo option, with water rowers and earlier weekday opening at 6:45am.
If the class you want is full, phone the studio rather than waiting on the form, since reception can tell you which other slots that day still have space. Reception opens at 10am on Saturdays and Sundays, and Jiyugaoka station is about ten minutes from Shibuya on a Tokyu Toyoko line express, where you can change for the Keio Inokashira line to Shimokitazawa. Members who already hold the Regular plan should check the other studio's timetable in the app before travelling.
After Class Around Jiyugaoka
Jiyugaoka is known for its small shopping streets, and the Kuhonbutsu River Greenway, a long tree-lined promenade built over a covered river, runs through the middle of town with benches down its centre. It is the natural place to cool down and stretch after a rowing block, and it links many of the area's cafés and interior shops.
For a reward, Mont St. Clair, the patisserie of chef Hironobu Tsujiguchi, is a short walk away and draws queues for its cakes. Those who prefer something quieter can walk a little further to the grounds of Kuhonbutsu Joshinji, a large Buddhist temple with tall trees and nine Amida statues in three halls.
