Jiu Jitsu Gym Near Me in Gotanda: Tri-Force's 2008 Dojo by Osaki-Hirokoji
Tri-Force Gotanda, the network's fourth dojo, founded in 2008 and led by black belt Toru Nakayama, trains at 8-6-22 Nishi-Gotanda with ¥4,000 cash visitor days and 11:00 weekday classes.
Tri-Force Gotanda takes visitors for ¥4,000 a day, paid in cash on the day, and members of other Tri-Force branches pay ¥1,000. The dojo is unit 102 of a building named Lumine Gotanda at 8-6-22 Nishi-Gotanda, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, two minutes from Osaki-hirokoji Station on the Tokyu Ikegami Line and seven minutes from the West Exit of JR Gotanda. Weekday classes start as early as 11:00 and the last ones run until about 22:30.

The Fourth Room in a Big Network
The about page says Gotanda was founded in 2008 as the fourth dojo of Tri-Force, the academy headed by Mitsuyoshi Hayakawa. It is run separately from the headquarters-managed branches in Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Asakusabashi, Akasaka and Kamata, which is why it has its own website, fees and blog.
The blog, written by the dojo's okami, or proprietress, is the best evidence that the room is busy: in October 2026 alone it posted a timetable change for the 14th and 16th, a report on members entering the summer Jiu-Jitsu Koshien 2026, and a note about December tournaments. The current homepage campaign, Family Jiu-Jitsu, waives the enrollment fee for a parent and child who join together until November 6.
A Black Belt Who Also Coaches Strength
Head instructor Toru Nakayama received his black belt from Hayakawa. The Japanese profile dates it to January 2008 and lists the 2010 All Japan black belt middleweight title and a bronze at the 2010 European Open. The English page places the European result in 2011. He trained at Alliance in 2005 and 2006 and also holds the NSCA-CSCS strength and conditioning certification.
That certification shows in the room. Beside the mat there is a weight area with a power rack, benches, a chin-up bar, kettlebells, a climbing rope, battle ropes and a landmine, and a viewing space beside it. Members who want extra conditioning can use the rack before or after class without paying for a second gym, and the coach behind the programme is certified to show them how.
Intro, Basic and the Rest of the Board
The April 2026 timetable shows beginner classes every day under two names: Nyumon, the true introduction, and Basic. On Monday there is a Nyumon class at 18:15 and a Basic at 21:15. On Tuesday Basic at 11:00, Nyumon at 12:00 and Basic at 19:30. On Saturday Basic at 12:00 and Nyumon at 13:00. On Sunday Nyumon at 12:00.
No-gi has two levels, No-Gi A on Monday at 11:00 and Friday at 19:30, and No-Gi B on Tuesday at 18:15. The board also lists a Masters class on Tuesday at 21:15, a judo class on Wednesday at 18:30, competition training on Saturday at 8:00 and Sunday at 14:45, and an advanced class on Saturday at 13:30.
Lunchtime and Dawn Slots for Office Workers
Gotanda is an office district, and the 11:00 weekday sessions are aimed at people with flexible hours or a long lunch. On Thursday there is a 6:00 to 7:30 open mat before work, and on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday the gaps between evening classes become open mat from 20:45 to 21:15.
If you are visiting, our honest pick is the Tuesday 12:00 Nyumon class: it follows an 11:00 Basic, so you can stay for both on one ¥4,000 day. Skip the Saturday 8:00 competition class unless you already compete. It is built for the dojo's tournament team.
What Visitors and Members Pay
The English page lists visitor fees of ¥4,000 for a day, ¥12,000 for a week, ¥15,000 for two weeks and ¥20,000 for a month. Email ahead with your date, class time and whether you need a rental gi, which costs ¥1,000 with a towel. Free trial lessons are limited to residents of Japan. Trial students need to bring nothing, because the gi and towel are lent free, and the dojo's family classes on Saturday at 11:00 and Sunday at 9:30 let a parent try the mat alongside a child.
For members, the Fulltime plan is ¥16,100 a month and the 8 Days plan ¥13,000, each with a ¥10,200 enrollment fee. Under-25s pay ¥10,700 a month and kids ¥9,700, each with a ¥5,100 enrollment fee, and a member's child is ¥5,800 a month with no enrollment fee. Sports insurance is ¥1,850 a year, or ¥800 for kids. Enrollment is cash only. The English page says the dojo currently cannot accept credit cards, so bring yen. Members can rent a gi-keeping and laundry locker for ¥11,000 a month.
Bringing the Right Kit
The FAQ asks for a BJJ or judo gi, a belt, a rash guard or T-shirt underneath, and spats. For no-gi, wear a rash guard and fight shorts with no metal and no pockets. Two shower rooms with shampoo and body soap mean you can head back into Gotanda without a gym bag full of wet clothes.
The dojo closes on the 10th, 20th and 30th of every month, and holiday hours are posted on the blog. Doors open 30 minutes before the first class, so a 6:00 open mat means a 5:30 arrival.
Ikedayama Park on the Other Side of the Tracks
Ikedayama Park at 5-4-35 Higashi-Gotanda is a small hillside garden in an old residential estate, with a pond, stepping stones and maples that colour in late November. It opens at 7:30 and closes at 17:00, or 18:00 in July and August, so it fits after a lunchtime class rather than an evening one.
It sits on the east side of Gotanda Station, so you will cross the JR tracks to get there. On the dojo's side, Osaki-hirokoji Station is two minutes away, and JR Osaki Station is an 11-minute walk if you are heading toward the Rinkai Line.
Practical Notes: Gotanda
Tri-Force Gotanda, Lumine Gotanda 102, 8-6-22 Nishi-Gotanda, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo. The building name is not the station shopping mall of the same name. Visitor fees are cash on the day. Closed on the 10th, 20th and 30th. Kids and pre-kids classes run on Wednesday and Friday at 16:15 and 17:00 and on Sunday at 10:30, and the timetable lists no women-only or English-language class.
