A Building Rebuilt Around the Bag in 2019

The gym is run by Chronodesign Co., Ltd., which the company page says was established on February 6, 2015, with kickboxing gym management as its only business. The current gym reopened after a renewal in 2019. The floor guide says the gym set out to fix the image of fight gyms as smelly, dirty and dark, so every training floor has a high-performance air purifier and frequent cleaning.

TARGET calls itself the first semi-personal kickboxing gym in the industry. In practice, that means you do not book a group class. You arrive whenever suits you, and an instructor stays with you through stretching, shadowboxing, pad work and bag rounds while also watching a few other members. The gym's slogan translates roughly as lifestyle innovation that starts with a kick.

What Is on Each of the Six Floors

The 3F kickboxing floor is the main room, with nine heavy bags for mitt work and bag rounds. 2F holds a full boxing ring, which beginners are invited to use as well as experienced members. 4F is a fitness floor for stretching, strength work and exercise bikes, and it can be rented for private group sessions. B2F is a machine-training floor, and B1F holds the locker rooms.

The locker rooms are where TARGET pulls ahead of older Tokyo fight gyms. There are showers, shampoo and hair dryers, and the women's room has a powder corner. Vending machines on B1 and 4F sell drinks at reduced prices. Every training floor has phone chargers, and the locker rooms and machine floor have 24-hour security alarms for members who train late on the round-the-clock option.

Hours, and the New Saturday and Wednesday Changes

On weekdays the gym is open from 12:00 to 23:30, with last entry at 22:30. From October 2026, Saturday hours changed to 10:00 to 18:00, with last entry at 17:00, the same as Sundays and public holidays. The gym's notice says the earlier Saturday opening came from member requests. On Sundays and holidays, semi-personal attention is not guaranteed when the floor is busy.

Since September 30, 2026, TARGET has also opened on Wednesday mornings as a trial. One instructor leads hour-long HIIT classes starting at 8:00, 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00. You can enter up to 15 minutes after the start, and the gym says latecomers past that point will be asked to wait for the next class. The notice says the morning slots will be reviewed once the gym sees how many people come.

The ¥3,300 Trial, Step by Step

The trial lasts about 60 minutes and is booked by date on the trial page's calendar. At reception you fill in a form, change and get a tour. An instructor then leads a long stretch and some cardio, teaches you shadowboxing form, holds mitts for you, and moves you onto a heavy bag. The session ends with strength training aimed at the body you want, then a talk about membership.

One rule catches people out. The trial page says only people aged 18 and over can join, and high school students cannot, even though the price list still shows student rates for junior high, high school and university students. Trials are by reservation only, and the calendar for the second half of October 2026 was showing open slots on most days.

Membership Prices With Tax Included

There is no joining fee. The standard plan, with unlimited use of the kickboxing and machine floors and no booking required, costs ¥22,000 a month for men and ¥20,350 for women. The annual plan, which saves a month, is ¥242,000 for men and ¥223,850 for women. A machine-floor-only plan costs ¥7,700, and the first month adds a ¥5,500 charge for sports insurance, the member card and registration.

Extras are itemised. A full rental set of gloves, wraps, T-shirt, shorts, shoes, towels and socks costs ¥1,650 per visit or ¥5,500 a month, and single items are ¥330 each. Twenty-four-hour access to the B2F, 3F and 4F floors and lockers is ¥2,200 a month. Personal training costs ¥4,400 for members and ¥6,600 for non-members, and the first month's fee is pro-rated.

Classes Worth Timing Your Visit Around

The beginners' class is the one to aim for. It runs on weekdays at 15:00 and 21:00 for 30 minutes and focuses on defence: parrying, ducking, blocking, weaving and checking kicks. On Wednesdays at 20:00, yoga instructor Rei Abiru takes over the 4F floor for an hour. On Fridays from 20:00 to 21:00 there is a strengthening class for members preparing for fights.

Children aged 4 to 12 train on Sundays from 10:15 to 11:15 or 14:15 to 15:15, and those on the three-day plan add Tuesday and Friday from 17:00 to 18:00. Families must bring their own kids' gloves and wraps, because there are no children's sizes to rent. Adult beginners should skip Sundays and holidays, when the gym says it cannot promise semi-personal attention, and come on a weekday afternoon instead.

Getting There and Wandering Jingumae

From Shibuya Station, take the B1 exit and walk about five minutes. From Meiji-Jingumae Station on the Chiyoda and Fukutoshin lines, Exit 7 is also about five minutes away. The gym sits in the backstreets of Jingumae 5-chome, between the Shibuya shopping streets and Harajuku, so you can arrive straight from work in either direction.

After training, walk to Cat Street, the car-free lane between Shibuya and Harajuku lined with sneaker and vintage shops. Or head down to Miyashita Park, where the rooftop park sits above a mall and a strip of izakaya. If you want something calmer, Omotesando's tree-lined avenue is about a ten-minute stroll away.
