Two hours a day, seven days a week. It is the only oyster deal on this stretch of Fountain.
The happy hour
Happy hour runs Monday through Sunday, 4.00pm to 6.00pm. Seven days — not weekdays only, which is the usual arrangement and the usual disappointment.
That daily consistency is worth more than a longer window a few days a week. It means a Sunday afternoon plan works exactly like a Tuesday one, and you never have to check which day it is before setting off.

Monday to Thursday, 4.00pm to 10.00pm. Friday to Sunday, 12.00pm to 10.00pm.
So on a weekday the restaurant opens directly into its own happy hour. Four o'clock is both the first moment you can get in and the start of the deal, which makes the opening the busiest useful slot rather than the quietest.
At the weekend the noon opening changes the shape completely. There are four hours of full-price service before the 4pm deal, which means a genuinely calm early afternoon exists here on Saturdays and Sundays — the one time this small room is not competing with itself.
What the kitchen is doing
The premise is the blue-collar oyster bars of New England intersected with west coast flavours. That is a more specific idea than 'seafood restaurant' and it shows up in the ordering — this is a shack menu rather than a fine-dining one, executed with more care than a shack menu usually gets.
The Michelin Guide lists it, which for a small counter-service-adjacent oyster bar is unusual and tells you the sourcing is being taken seriously.
Order oysters first and decide the rest afterwards. A room where the oyster list is the argument should be judged on that, and the happy hour makes trying several varieties an affordable exercise rather than a commitment.
The room and its limits
This is small. That is the main constraint and the thing most likely to derail a plan — a compact room with a counter and limited seating, in a neighbourhood where it is one of very few destinations of its kind.
At 4pm on a Friday you are competing with everyone else who read about the happy hour. If you want a seat rather than a wait, be there when the doors open, or take the weekend noon slot instead and pay full price for a calmer room.
Two people will always do better than four here. The counter is the best place to sit and it is easier to find two adjacent stools than a table.
East Hollywood around it
Fountain Avenue is not a strolling street, but the neighbourhood has more going on than its reputation suggests. Barnsdall Art Park is nearby, sits up on a hill, is free to walk around, and has one of the better westward views in this part of the city — a good place to spend the hour before a 4pm opening.
The Metro B Line runs through the area, which makes this a reasonable place to arrive without a car. Given that the reason to come is a bar with a happy hour, that is worth planning for rather than treating as an afterthought.
What a happy hour oyster actually is
Discounted oysters are common enough that it is worth knowing what changes at the lower price, because something usually does. The most frequent arrangement is that the deal covers one or two house varieties — typically smaller, farmed, consistently available oysters — while the wider list stays at full price.
That is not a swindle. Smaller oysters are often better for eating in quantity, and a farmed oyster from a good producer is a more consistent product than a wild one. But it does mean the happy hour is a different experience from working through the full list.
The useful approach is to use the deal for volume and then order one or two off the main list at full price for contrast. You end up spending less than a full-price dozen and tasting more range.
Ask what the happy hour oyster is on the day. If the answer is specific — a named farm, a named region — it is a good sign about the rest of the kitchen.
