A stronger city angle is a comic-shop sketch route: browse visual references, carry a sketchbook, and turn character hype into a small creative afternoon.
This route is intentionally different from an arcade night. It is for people who want the energy of a game trend without spending the whole day in front of another display. The EOI is the creative behavior: looking, sketching, comparing styles, and moving between shops respectfully.
Start where browsing feels intentional
Union Square works as the first anchor because comic browsing, art supplies, food, and transit all sit close together. Keep the first stop short enough that it does not become a buying mission. The goal is to collect visual ideas, not to clear every shelf.
Store etiquette matters. Do not photograph pages without permission, block aisles for group debates, or treat staff like a search engine. If someone wants to sketch, do it in a nearby public seating area or cafe rather than taking over store space.
Use Midtown as the transfer, Williamsburg as the reset
Midtown is useful when the group wants a second shop and an easy subway move. Williamsburg gives the route a different creative texture: more indie browsing, more zine energy, and a better chance to sit afterward with a notebook.
