On a mild evening it is one of the more pleasant places to sit in downtown Los Angeles.

It is the thin-patty, griddled, properly seasoned kind rather than the tall pub version — cheese melted into the crust, a soft bun, minimal interference. That works in ERB's favour in one specific way: because nobody is passing by, the people in the garden have chosen to be there, and the room has a settled, unhurried quality that a street-facing bar in a busier neighbourhood does not get. It is a place people stay at for three hours rather than one.
Parking is street parking and it is genuinely findable most evenings, which is not something you can say about the Westside. Rideshare is straightforward. The Metro A Line at Little Tokyo is a walk of ten to fifteen minutes depending on which end of the district you are aiming for.
Making an evening of it
The natural shape is to start here in the early window, eat a burger, and then move on — the surrounding blocks have a dense enough run of bars and restaurants that a second stop is easy to arrange without a car. The reverse also works: dinner elsewhere and a late drink in the garden, which is at its best after nine when the early crowd has cleared.
For groups, this is one of the more reliable bookings in downtown. The garden absorbs six or eight people without anyone having to shout, and the food menu is short enough that ordering for a table is not a negotiation. That combination is harder to find in Los Angeles than it should be.
