Two dark days at the start of the week is the thing to write down. A Monday or Tuesday plan built around this patio fails at the gate, and the Arts District is not somewhere you want to arrive without a backup.
The weekend two o'clock opening is the other half of the schedule worth knowing. On Saturday and Sunday the bar opens two hours before the happy hour starts, which means the patio is available in the early afternoon at full price — and that is when it is at its most pleasant and least crowded.
How to play the weekend
Arrive at two on a Saturday. The patio is empty, the light is good, and you have two hours before the deal starts and the after-work crowd arrives.
Then the happy hour lands at four while you are already seated. That is the whole trick — on a patio this well regarded, the seat is the scarce resource rather than the discount, and arriving at 4.01pm means competing for both at once.
Sunday works the same way with an earlier finish: a 2pm open and a 10pm close makes it a genuinely good long afternoon rather than a night out.

The Arts District context
East 7th Street is at the quieter end of the Arts District, which is part of why the patio works — there is space here that does not exist further into downtown.
The neighbourhood is walkable in the evening and dense with places to eat, so this fits into a weekend rather than consuming it. The murals and warehouse conversions between 3rd and 7th are free to walk past and are best in the late afternoon light.
If the evening runs to the 2am Friday or Saturday close, plan the route home in advance — this part of downtown thins out considerably after midnight.
Drinking outdoors in Los Angeles
