Type 7th Street Burger into a map from a Los Angeles ZIP code and you get everything except 7th Street Burger. The chain that put thin, lace-edged patties on half of downtown Manhattan was up to roughly nineteen shops by early 2025, almost all of them in New York with a pair in Washington, D.C., and a pipeline pointed at Philadelphia, Baltimore and Boston. Founder Yousef Rezvani was still describing Los Angeles as a market he was scouting in late 2025, and no LA storefront has opened since. So the question worth answering is not when it arrives. It is which LA griddle is still going at the hour you are actually hungry, because in this city that is the variable that decides your dinner.

The chain you searched for is a New York problem
7th Street Burger built its reputation on subtraction: a short menu, a smashed double, American cheese, a soft bun, a price that stays reasonable, and a room small enough that the whole operation is one griddle and a line. That model travels well, which is why it moved down the coast to D.C. before it looked west. But scouting a market and signing a lease are different verbs, and the West Coast expansion has not produced an address. If you came to this page because a friend told you it opened here, that is a rumor, not a location. Los Angeles already had the format anyway — it just spread it across four neighborhoods instead of stacking it on one street.
Kitchens that stop at nine: Goldburger, now in four neighborhoods
Goldburger started as a Silver Lake pop-up in 2019, took a residency in Highland Park in 2020, and made Los Feliz permanent in 2021. It now runs four doors. Highland Park sits at 5623 York Boulevard and opens noon to 9pm every day. Los Feliz, at 1820 North Vermont Avenue, opens earlier — 11:30am — and also closes at 9pm, which makes it the only one of these five that can be a lunch. The Granada Hills location took over a former Frosty Queen at 17603 Chatsworth Street and is the outlier of the group: a drive-thru lane, roughly thirty indoor seats and twenty more on a patio, plus milkshakes and soft serve that exist only there as a nod to the ice cream stand it replaced. A fourth site landed in Chinatown at 943 North Broadway, Suite 102, in the space Burgerlords held for nine years. Read the pattern before you drive: Goldburger is the early option, not the late one.
Ten o'clock, two doors, and one Silver Lake address that is gone
Heavy Handed began in a pandemic parking lot and turned into the closest thing LA has to a homegrown smash chain, run by Max Miller and Danny Gordon on short rib patties, beef tallow fries and dipped soft serve. The original is at 2912 Main Street in Santa Monica, a few blocks from the sand, open 11:30am to 10pm daily. Studio City followed at 11838 Ventura Boulevard in April 2024. Here is the part most lists have not caught up to: the third shop, which opened in March 2025 at 3200 West Sunset Boulevard in the old All Day Baby space, is no longer operating, and Heavy Handed's own locations page now shows two addresses. If a roundup sends you to Sunset for this burger, it was written before the closure and nobody updated it.
One in the morning, and no cash: Burgers Never Say Die
Shawn Nee ran this as a backyard operation before it became a brick-and-mortar in Silver Lake in early 2019, and the formula has not moved since: twin patties with crunchy skirts, ketchup, mustard, pickle, raw onion, soft bun, nothing else asked of you. It sits at 2388 Glendale Boulevard, Unit A. The hours are the thing to memorize, because they are not one schedule but three. Monday and Tuesday it runs noon to 10pm. Wednesday and Sunday it stretches to 11:30pm. Thursday, Friday and Saturday it stays open until 1am. That means a Monday craving hits a wall three hours earlier than the same craving on a Thursday. It is also cashless — the counter takes cards and mobile payment only, and there is a Cash App pickup link if you would rather not stand in the line at all.
The disco ball rule: Love Hour keeps the bar open past the kitchen
Love Hour at 532 South Western Avenue in Koreatown is the one that breaks the takeout-counter mold entirely. It describes itself as part cocktail bar, part diner: orb lights, a marble bar, a small disco ball hanging over the DJ booth, and smashburgers arriving next to cocktails. It is closed Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday it runs 5pm to 11pm; Friday and Saturday it goes to 1am. The trap is the gap between the room and the griddle — the kitchen stops at 10pm most nights and 10:30pm on Friday and Saturday, so a 12:30am Friday arrival gets you a drink and a DJ, not a burger. Happy hour runs daily until 7pm. It is mostly walk-in, but a few tables are held back each night, which is worth knowing if you are arriving as a group rather than a pair. Please drink responsibly and be of legal drinking age.
How to sequence a night around this
Sort by clock, not by ranking. Anything before 9pm opens the whole board, and Goldburger is the only one you can catch for lunch. Between 9pm and 10pm you are down to Heavy Handed on the Westside or in the Valley. After 10pm on a weekday, Burgers Never Say Die on a Wednesday is the reliable answer and Love Hour is not, because its kitchen has already closed. After midnight, Thursday through Saturday, Silver Lake is effectively the only counter left standing. None of these take a reservation for a burger, so the currency is timing, not access.
Two practical notes. Carry a card, because at least one of these counters will not take your cash at all. And check the day of the week rather than just the hour — every schedule on this page changes shape between Monday and Saturday, and that is the single most common reason people arrive to a dark window with the smell still in the air.
