Wooded Manhattan Trails With Bridge Views and Bald Eagles
Three hilly trails lead from old growth woods to bridge and Hudson River outlooks.
🌲 Forest to River
Manhattan rarely gives you this much topography in one city park. Inwood Hill Park climbs through old growth trees, rocky shelves, and cave like pockets, with three distinct trails that feel more wooded than urban. The upper paths open toward the Henry Hudson Bridge and the New Jersey Palisades, while the lower edge runs toward a salt marsh, a dog run, and the riverfront, and traffic noise from the Henry Hudson Parkway can cut through a few stretches.
Keep going for the flatter side, where sports courts, ball fields, and playgrounds bring runners and families into the mix. The park carries a 4.7 score across 3,576 ratings, and the daily hours stretch from six in the morning until one in the morning.
Bring shoes that can handle roots and rock, then aim high for the bridge view or low for the water. This is a walk with real terrain, a little wildlife potential, and enough room to change pace without leaving Manhattan.
