Where To Cast A Line Over Lower New York Bay
Drop a line off a long public pier, then watch the Verrazzano and the sunset color the water at South Beach, Staten Island.
🎣 Out on the pier
Ocean Breeze Fishing Pier is a long public pier reaching into Lower New York Bay off Father Capodanno Boulevard, at the quiet southern end of Staten Island's South Beach. Anglers line the rails with rods and folding chairs, while a covered pavilion at the far end gives walkers a place to rest within sight of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, close enough to watch its lights flicker on at dusk. A brick promenade, lamp posts, and benches make for an even stroll, and access stays free, with the FDR Boardwalk running right alongside the sand.
