Walk Off Thanksgiving Dinner at Green-Wood Cemetery on November 27
Two hours with a Green-Wood guide across a 478-acre landmark cemetery, the Friday after the holiday meal.
🍂 Friday, November 27, 1 PM
🏛️ What Two Hours Here Gets You
Green-Wood opened in 1838 and is now a National Historic Landmark, with 478 acres of hills, glacial ponds, carved monuments and the graves of figures like Leonard Bernstein. Wander it alone and much of that is just stone. A guide turns two hours into the stories behind the names, and this walk runs once a year, on the Friday after Thanksgiving, for anyone ready for a break from the holiday.
🎟️ Tickets and Check-In
Tickets are 30 dollars, or 24 for members, with check-in by name and nothing to print. Everyone meets at the main entrance on Fifth Avenue at 25th Street, home to the Gothic gate in the photo above. Green-Wood's 2026 listing names the Green-House at 750 Fifth Avenue as the exact spot, while some ticket pages still say the Gothic Arch. Check your ticket confirmation before heading over. Sales are final unless Green-Wood cancels.
🥾 Before You Go
The route covers hilly, grassy and uneven ground with nowhere to sit, and it is not wheelchair accessible. Green-Wood does not recommend it for kids under 10. Wear real walking shoes. When the weather looks bad, Green-Wood decides about three hours before the start and emails ticket holders. The cafés below have not posted holiday week hours yet, and a quick check before walking over helps.
