Explore Little Havana through tributes to exile and independence, with a sacred ceiba tree behind the monument.

Pause for Cuban history.

🕯️ A Parkway of Remembrance

The Bay of Pigs Monument brings a moment of reflection to Little Havana. An eternal flame anchors the tribute to the exiles of Brigade 2506, while Cuban Memorial Boulevard extends the story across a four block parkway. Take the walk as a chance to consider several distinct chapters of Cuban history.

The central tribute remembers those who fought in the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion. Other markers include statues of General Antonio Maceo, the nineteenth century independence leader, and Nestor Izquierdo, an anti communist fighter.

Behind the monument stands a 100 year old sacred ceiba tree, where people leave items for cultural or personal reasons. Leave the items placed around the tree untouched. The site is open 24 hours every day at 806 SW 13th Ave, making this a short stop to weave into a longer walk along Calle Ocho.
