Plan a walk on The 606.

🚶 A Railway Turned Green

Your next Chicago walk can leave street level behind. The 606 turns a former elevated railway into a landscaped route for runners, walkers and cyclists, with 2.7 miles to explore above the city. It connects neighborhood parks and art installations, bringing more to the outing than a straight stretch of pavement. Find it at 1825 N Damen Ave.

Greenery lines the corridor, with water fountains and sunny benches for breaks along the way. An observatory gives you another place to stop, while a blue mat provides a surface for runners. Frequent access points let you step in and out for a quick workout, or settle into a longer walk.

The trail is open daily from 6 AM to 11 PM. Choose an early run, bring a bike or take your time on foot toward sunset, with the city below and a different perspective on the neighborhood.
