Tour a Candlelit Haunted House Six Nights Only, Then Sip Mezcal Among Cobwebs
Six October nights of candlelit ghost stories in an 1832 house, then a mile east to a 21+ Halloween pop-up open to Nov 2.
🗺️ From East 4th Street to Avenue C
🕯️ Stop 1 · Merchant's House Museum
The Tredwell family lived in this 1832 house for nearly a century, and at least eight people died inside it. That part is recorded history. The ghost stories layered on top come from the museum's own paranormal investigations, told as lore rather than proven fact. Fifty-minute candlelight tours run October 16, 17, 23, 24, 29 and 30, every half hour from 6:30 to 9:00 PM, at 45 dollars. Doors open 10 minutes ahead and there is no late entry. The route climbs four flights of steep, dim stairs with about an hour on your feet and no elevator, and children under 12 stay home.

🎃 Stop 2 · The Cabinet Mezcal Bar
Through November 2, The Cabinet turns into The Haunting on 9th Street, a Halloween pop-up from the team behind Miracle and Sippin' Santa, with cobwebs, jack-o'-lanterns and themed cocktails beside a list of more than 900 agave spirits, mezcal and tequila among them. Pop-up hours run 4:00 to 11:00 PM on Thursdays, 2:00 to 11:30 PM on Fridays and 1:00 PM to midnight on Saturdays, apart from the bar's regular hours. Entry is 21 and over. Resy bookings from October 15 carry a 3.75 dollar fee that is non-refundable and does not count toward the bill, and tables are held for 10 minutes.

🚶 One mile east, parlor to pumpkins
The two stops are booked separately, and a tour ticket covers neither a table nor a drink at the bar. An 8:00 PM tour lets out around 8:50 PM, and the walk east to Ninth Street between Avenues B and C runs roughly a mile, often about 20 minutes. On Fridays and Saturdays a table around 9:15 to 9:30 PM leaves a comfortable evening. On Thursday, October 29, the pop-up closes at 11:00 PM, and an earlier tour is the safer pick. The second stop admits only guests 21 and over, which makes this a route for adults.
