This Victorian House Museum Has A 35 Seat Theater
Explore period rooms and gardens in Germantown, where daily life in the nineteenth century takes center stage.
🎭 History With A Stage
Philadelphia history gets domestic at Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion in Germantown. Inside this Victorian house museum, period rooms and exhibits explore daily life in the nineteenth century, with societal change and bold decorative choices woven into the tours. Look beyond the larger sweep of city history and spend an afternoon with the details of how people lived.
Live Victorian Theatre brings performances into a theater with just 35 seats. Specialized programs and workshops broaden the calendar, while the gardens offer another way to explore the grounds. Tour admission costs 10 dollars per person, and theatrical performances and special events have separate pricing.
Tours start Friday through Sunday at noon, 1 PM, 2 PM and 3 PM, with Thursday tours available by advance reservation only. Head to 200 W. Tulpehocken St. for the museum, and check the program before booking a performance rather than assuming a show accompanies a tour.
