Indian Road Playground gives a family outing a contained starting point inside Inwood Hill Park. Step through the gate at 570 W 214th St, then choose among play areas designed for different ages. Bringing children at different stages means having more than one part of the playground to consider before everyone settles into their own pace.
The large sand dune adds another way to play, alongside a water feature for cooling down. Parents have ample seating for a break while children spread out across the spacious layout. Leave a little room in the plan for unstructured running around, rather than rushing straight to the next stop.
A water fountain sits near the entrance, handy for a drink on the way in or out. There are no public restrooms here, a detail to factor into the family plan before heading over. The playground opens daily from 7 AM to 6 PM.
