Description

The monument was originally erected in 1952 by local Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts as part of the "Strengthen the Arm of Liberty" campaign, before being rededicated in 1989 for Washington’s centennial. Today, the open-air plaza serves as a breezy spot to pause by the water and a regular waypoint along the Alki walking tour route managed by the Southwest Seattle Historical Society.
