Description

Since its 1996 renovation, this Upper East Side recreation spot has spanned the block between 67th and 68th Streets. Its layout specifically mimics the Santa Maria sopra Minerva church in Rome, which houses the remains of St. Catherine. Here, a flagpole represents the altar, the play areas serve as pews, and the elephant sprinklers are adapted from the sculpture that resides in front of the Roman church.
