Description

A place of worship has stood here for over a thousand years, dedicated to the Archbishop of Canterbury who was martyred on this spot in 1012. As the first London church designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor, it remains one of only six he built in the city. The well-preserved interior has deep ties to local maritime and royal pasts, housing memorials like the tomb of General James Wolfe buried with his parents. Run by welcoming volunteers, it serves today as a quiet space to sit and rest.
