Southern Comfort Food and Cocktails at a 53-Foot Bar

Settle into Southern fare, craft cocktails, and a long bar-side catch-up near Ben's Chili Bowl.

Plan a relaxed U Street dinner.

🍽️ A U Street Ritual

Ben's Next Door is the U Street answer to a long, unhurried meal, especially when the plan includes a drink and a little neighborhood drift. The menu sits in Southern comfort food territory, with weekend brunch favorites and signature cocktail flights alongside the main draw, a 53-foot bar.

The room works across the day without pretending every hour has the same shape. Monday opens at noon and closes at 10 PM. Tuesday through Thursday runs from noon to 11 PM, Friday stays open until 1 AM, Saturday opens at 11 AM and also runs until 1 AM, and Sunday returns to an 11 AM start with a 10 PM close. Friday and Saturday run until 1 AM, which gives a late meal more room to stretch.

At 1211 U Street NW, Ben's Next Door makes a natural companion stop near Ben's Chili Bowl, with a Black-owned lounge and restaurant identity that keeps dinner, brunch, and drinks in the same orbit.
