🍛 Flavors Across Generations

Oxtail bunny chow and blue crab curry ramen open the story at Dravida, a women owned South Asian diaspora restaurant at 211 1st Avenue in Manhattan. Chef Aarthi Sampath builds an evolving Indian menu around the way flavors shift across generations.

Start with doubles, then move to Guyanese lamb chop curry or the Uighur ribeye kawap for a heartier main. Sampath frequently checks on tables in person, and the plates, glasses, and serving platters were chosen to reflect her spirit, carrying the design of the room onto the table. Expect upscale pricing, with a 20 percent gratuity added to every check.

Before gathering a group, note that dining is restricted to guests ages 15 and older, and strollers and highchairs cannot be accommodated. Dravida is closed Monday, open Tuesday through Saturday from half past four PM to half past ten PM, and Sunday from half past four PM to 10 PM.
