Description

Designed by architect Wilhelm Müller in 1910 as Berlin’s first crematorium, the complex mixes neoclassical and early Christian styles, including a serpent mosaic. Revived in 2013 as an independent venue, it expands beyond concerts into art exhibitions, readings, and experimental film festivals.
Events alternate between two main settings. The subterranean Betonhalle provides a large concrete space praised for clear sound, while the Kuppel features flexible setups with performers placed in the center or front of the octagonal room. Outside, garden areas frame the grounds.
